4/24/2008 SIX PENN KITCHEN TAPS NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF - Proprietor Mark Broadhurst Selects Chef to Help Lead Award-Winning Bistro
Six Penn Kitchen, one of the region’s most celebrated and award-winning restaurants, announces the selection of Chef Keith Fuller as Executive Chef, according to Mark Broadhurst, director of concept development and proprietor.Fuller is assuming the role from his mentor, Chef Chris Jackson, who is leaving the restaurant to pursue his dream of opening his own establishment in
Brooklyn, New York .
“Over the last two years, it’s been incredible to watch the restaurant grow and evolve,” Broadhurst said.“Our talented team has been relentless in creating an outstanding dining experience for our guests and we are looking forward to Chef Keith continuing to build upon our commitment to providing fresh, carefully crafted, all-American cuisine.”
According to Broadhurst, Chef Chris was instrumental in helping to turn the vision for Six Penn Kitchen into reality when it opened in 2006 as the brainchild of both Broadhurst and the Eat’n Park Hospitality Group. “Although we are saddened to lose such a talented member of the Six Penn team, we were fortunate to have Chef Chris here at our beginning, and I am sure he will also have great success with his new venture in
Brooklyn ,” Broadhurst said.
Broadhurst’s original vision, which remains true today, was to create a neighborhood American bistro that focused on relaxed, but attentive service, and unfussy, but expertly prepared food at down to earth prices.Since then, the restaurant has earned many accolades from local and national publications, including being named Pittsburgh’s “Best New Restaurant” by multiple Pittsburgh publications, and also one of the 25 Best Restaurants in
Pittsburgh for the last two years by Pittsburgh Magazine. Six Penn was also recognized as “where to eat in
Pittsburgh ” by the Wall Street Journal.
Broadhurst, a veteran to the hospitality industry, was named Director of Concept Development for Eat’n Park Hospitality Group in November of 2003.Prior to his appointment, Broadhurst served as director of operations for Kahunaville, an award-winning casual-themed restaurant, nightclub, and bar concept.There he was responsible for helping to grow the concept from a single restaurant and nightclub location to a company with nine locations in North America and two in
Southeast Asia .During this time, Kahunaville was recognized as a “Hot Concept” by The Nations Restaurant News, and as having the Best Beverage Program in the chain restaurant industry by Cheers Magazine.
Six Penn Kitchen is open Monday - Saturday for lunch and dinner and is open on Sundays from 10:30AM to 2:30PM for Sunday brunch.Six Penn also features a rooftop bar, perfect for spring and summer evenings.
